Rebecca and Chrissy of Manistee Main Library will once again lead micro ghost tours of our 120 year old Carnegie Library. Learn about the history of our building and "George," the spirit that reportedly haunts our bookshelves. Registration will open at 12noon on the day of the event for the ghost tours. We can accommodate groups of up to 5 people.

Rattling Bones: Cause of Death 5 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Why do we care so much about death in genealogy? Death is the final event in an individual’s life, as well as where you begin to research a family member. Discover the history of death records in the United States, from ledger entries to the death certificates we recognize today, and why obituaries are not the best place to start. Public health’s impact on death recording will also be covered, along with tips, tricks and resources to help you dig up your ancestors’ last vital record.

History of an Asylum: Tales from the State Hospital at 7 - 8 p.m.
Join us in the top floor meeting room for a history presentation with professional tour guide and actor Clover Keyes. Clover will regale you with stories from the state mental hospital in Traverse City. The institution was established in 1881 and would eventually close in 1989. Watch and listen to dramatic re-enactments that return to life those who lived and worked in this Victorian-era asylum. No registration is required but space is limited.
