We have a special treat for fans of jazz guitar this October as the award-winning guitarist Nigel Price makes his debut appearance at Speakeasy and celebrates the music of guitar legend Wes Montgomery and more. Nigel cites his early influences as Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass and John McLaughlin. He supported Gladys Knight at The Royal Albert Hall and was with James Taylor’s jazz/funk band for 3 years and recorded 5 albums with them. He has played at Ronnie Scott’s over 500 times and recorded more than 50 albums.
He plays on Van Morrison’s recent album, ‘Keep me Singing’. His band won a Parliamentary Jazz Award for ‘Best Jazz Ensemble’ and a British Jazz Award for ‘Best Small Group’ and ‘Best Guitarist’.
He has a unique sound and plays all styles from straight grooves to classic hard bop themes, and breezy swing with a splash of languid, lyrical blues.
Joining him tonight will be multi-award winning Craig Milverton - piano, Ashley John Long - double bass, and Alex Goodyear - drums.
