May 2024 Artist.... Nicole is a professional art therapist who lives in Mullen, Nebraska. She uses a person-centered and strengths-based approach. Art therapy utilizes active art-making, the creative process, applied psychological theory, and the human experience within a therapeutic relationship. Art therapy is used to improve cognitive and sensorimotor functions, foster self-esteem and self-awareness, cultivate emotional resilience, promote insight, enhance social skills, reduce and resolve conflicts and distress, and advance societal and ecological change.Nicole also has experience with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma informed care, rational emotive behavioral therapy and Gestalt therapy. She has facilitated art therapy groups at the Prairie Arts Center, ESU 16, and North Platte 911 Dispatch Center.
Nicole has a passion for helping people use counseling and art therapy to express things they can’t express otherwise. Talking about and/or making art about one’s emotions, thoughts and relationships can have a tremendous healing impact.
