Nicola McMaster Memorial Competition

Presented by: The Hamilton & Dsictrict Highland Dance Teachers Association (H&D HDTA)

Registration will begin at 8:00am for Primary, Beginner and Novice, and 12:00 pm for Intermediate and Premier. The competition will commence at 8:30am. We will start with Beginner and Novice Lilt, followed by Primary Pas de Basques and Pas de Basques & Highcuts.

Intermediate and Premier will start with the Fling not before 12:30pm.

Split day competition. *Please ensure to add the family fee to your cart!

• Primary: Pas De Basques, Pdb & Highcuts, Fling (4), Sword (2&1)
• Beginner/Novice: Lilt(4), Fling (4), Sword (2&1), S. Truibhas (3&1)
• Intermediate: Fling (4), Sword (2&1), S. Truibhas (3&1), Hornpipe (4)
• Premier: Fling (4), Sword (2&1), S. Truibhas (3&1), Blue Bonnets (4)

All groups will be split by age according to entries received. Age is as of date of competition. Technique and steps will be judged under RSOBHD regulations. The judge’s decision is final.

Cash will be awarded to the oldest premier age group.

CURRENT 2024 SCOTDANCE CARD MUST BE SHOWN TO RECEIVE COMPETITION NUMBER.

Snacks, and refreshments will be available, please support our Association.

SPECIAL “NICOLA McMASTER MEMORIAL AWARD” FOR PREMIER DANCERS ONLY. There will be a dance-off with the 1st and 2nd place winners in the Blue Bonnets. Dancers will be required to dance a 6 step Blue Bonnets.

A bursary will be awarded to the dancer with the most points in the Premier class.

Waiver:

I am aware that participating in the Nicola McMaster Memorial Competition (the “Event”) involves the potential for risks, dangers and hazards, including but not limited to:(a) injury to myself / my child as a result of the physical nature of dance competition and performance; and(b) the taking and/or release of unauthorized photographs, video and/or other recordings of myself and/or my child, notwithstanding efforts to enforce Event policies.

In consideration of my / my child’s participation in the Event and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is acknowledged, I hereby WAIVE ANY AND ALL CLAIMS against ScotDance Canada, H&D HDTA, SDTA (ON), its directors, agents, employees, executive members, volunteers and organizers of the Event (the “Releasees”), which I now have, or hereafter may have against the Releasees. In particular, but without limiting the foregoing, I agree to release the Releasees from ANY AND ALL LIABILITY for any loss, damage, injury, or expense I / my child may incur as a result of my / my child’s participation in or attendance at the Event. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Releasees from ANY LOSS, DAMAGE, INJURY OR EXPENSE, including legal costs, that the Releasees may incur due to my / my child’s participation in or attendance at the Event, whether caused by the negligence of the Releasees or otherwise, and whether caused to my child or otherwise. I understand that the Releasees will photograph and otherwise record the Event, its participants and attendees. I consent to and authorize such recording. I further consent to and authorize the Releasees to publish my/my child’s image, likeness and information in any medium, including but not limited to photographs, videos, DVDs, and web-casts. I understand that this publication will take place in the public domain, including in printed materials, public announcements, and on the internet.

I specifically consent to the public release of the following information: 1. Name; 2. City of Residence; 3. Age; 4. Results. I acknowledge that by signing and submitting this entry, electronically or otherwise, that I have read this agreement carefully and fully understand it and agree to all of the above terms and conditions.

Upon registering for this event and immediately prior to the event, you agree to the requirements and recommendations of any National, Provincial and local public health and other governmental authorities as well as any requirements from the competition organizers which may be in effect at the time of the event, as it pertains to the COVID-19 Coronavirus and to adopt all necessary measures to those effects.

Participants are required to agree to each of the following at the time of registration:
