About this Event
Join Gaia Abraxas for a nicho-making workshop. The cost is $45 and includes all materials.
Materials: we have in stock a wide selection of beautiful, rustic tin and glass nichos imported from Mexico, a wide variety of real devotional milagros and other charms, a curated selection of 1,000 visually interesting devalued coins and banknotes, a huge inventory of beads and findings, chain, wire and thread, gand everything needed to make your own miniatures shrine.
Sample nicho, pictured:
Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz. The sample project uses images cut out of an old 1,000 peso banknote in a tiny shrine honoring one of the greatest writers of the Spanish enlightenment. Born in Mexico in 1648, Sor Juana Ines was an intellectual prodigy and a nun who spoke up for women's right to an education.
