About this Event
Nicholas House Dinner Service
Join us for an evening of service to support Nicholas House’s mission of providing shelter and support to homeless families. Serving and sharing a dinner with Nicholas House residents is the perfect opportunity to make a positive impact in our community while connecting with other members of MPC.
Event Details
Come serve and share a taco bar dinner with the families at Nicholas House on Saturday November 4th. Nicholas House is home to more than 30 children and their parents/caregivers as they transition into more permanent housing. We always have a great time playing and sharing a meal with the residents. We provide the food, so please find a way to contribute using this and RSVP here to let us know if you will join us! All ages are welcome, but only those 15 and older will be allowed in the kitchen space to be complaint with county health code. Children and kids at heart will have the opportunity to play outside while adults prep.
We cap the number of volunteers at ten so that we can easily fit in the kitchen/cafeteria space, but please join the waitlist if needed so that we can gauge interest for additional dinners.
Important things to note:
Volunteers must be 15 years of age or older to enter the kitchen (children can play outside or sit in the dining hall)
Prepare to serve 50 residents (35 will be children). The residents sit at tables and the food can be brought to them.
The State Health Department requires:
1. Immediate hand-washing as you enter the kitchen.
2. Hair nets and gloves worn at all times (provided by NHI).
3. No “taste-testing” of menu items.
4. Care that food be fresh and properly cooked.
