To celebrate the September 19th release of his tenth album, ACROSS THE HORIZON (Albany Records), Eastman School of Music Guitar Professor Nicholas Goluses will perform several of its solo pieces “linked by the vision of each composer to create a soundscape through the guitar.” From Argentine Tango composer Astor Piazzolla’s "Cinco Piezas Para Guitarra" – his only solo work for guitar – to the evocative "Five Preludes" by that towering giant of Brazilian music, Heitor Villa-Lobos, the concert will be a voyage across several continents. "Fantasia," written especially for Goluses by American jazz composer and Eastman Emeritus Professor Bill Dobbins, and Australian composer Phillip Houghton’s exploration of Greek mythology and landscapes, "Stélé," will round out the musical journey.
