About this Event
Join Chef Lymaris at Nibble Kitchen and learn to prepare a traditional holiday dish from Puerto Rico, Pasteles. This dish is a family tradition and is like an event in preparation for Christmas, each person is assigned a task, like heating the plantain leaves, cleaning the leaves, preparing the masa and the stuffing and wrapping. During this class we will do all these tasks, and we will learn what kind of vegetables are used to prepare the masa for pasteles. We will also be doing some annatto oil in order to give the masa its distinctive color, and that you can incorporate in other dishes. In Puerto Rico during Christmas there is a drink that is common in every household, and every party, Coquito! During this class we will learn how to prepare the most delicious coquito, which is kind of like eggnog, but so much better!
Nibble Kitchen Cooking Classes are 2/3 cooking class, 1/3 dinner party! Come hungry and ready to jump right into the kitchen with Chef Lymaris. Nibble classes are very hands-on, Chef Lymaris will guide us through every step of the class, but be prepared to roll up your sleeves and get to work.
When the food is all ready we will sit together and share the meal we have just created! This is also a great chance to chat with Chef Lymaris and learn all about Christmas in her native Puerto Rico.
