NFT Archeology: Exploring Their Historical and Societal Impact

Understanding the history of art is a window into the evolution of human civilization. There are entire college departments dedicated to art history and legitimate career paths for those who study it. While we may not see “NFT Archaeologist” job postings on LinkedIn and Indeed just yet, there are a small group of people leveraging their research skills and understanding of the blockchain to uncover historical projects that paved the way for modern NFTs. Atlanta's own is one such explorer, contributing his time and expertise to this documentation because the time period we are currently in will likely be looked upon as a very significant shift in how humans interact with digital technology and art.

is also passionate about NFTs, and particularly their societal impact. A longtime art collector, Iris has dedicated her career to uplifting artists. She originally planned to create an online store for artists to sell their work. But in 2020 when Iris learned about NFTs she decided the technology would be a much more profound way to help artists. In February 2021, Nevins and her team launched NFT studio , which promotes artists and educates people about Web3. Among its many offerings, the Umba Daima team manages and consults with artists, earning a percentage of their sales, and helps build online communities for marketplaces. Umba Daima also launched a number of sub-brands, which it oversees. The first was , followed quickly by the and virtual exhibit .

Join Jonathan and Iris for a fascinating conversation on how Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), a phenomenon still its infancy, are already shaping our world.
