*****NEW LOCATION KINGSTEIGNTON COMMUNITY HALL . PLEASE READ INFO BELOW *****
Maia lives in Shaldon, Devon, and has mainly retired from a rich and varied working life. She has worked in Education, Safeguarding and Advocacy, Project and Company Management, and more. She has held titles of Maths Teacher, Astrologer, Medium, Shopkeeper, Shepherdess, Smallholder, Mum, Nana, Auntie and Cousin (family is important to her) and more.
Her voluntary sector roles in the community included Chair of a Parish Council, Council Tree Warden, Dartmoor Rescue, Coastguard, and Faith Response for Devon. She was the Pagan Federation District Manager for 10 years and is currently the Pagan Representative for SACRE Torbay (Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education).
Maia thinks a great deal — often about numbers, ancient sites, alignments and stones (after getting lost on her way to the second Isle of Wight Festival and discovering Stonehenge instead), trees and hedges — but most of all, she thinks about Spirituality.
Maia often tells anyone who will listen that Paganism is one of the most diverse of the beliefs that exists today, both within itself and for each individual Pagan. She also believes it is the most misunderstood and misrepresented belief within the media, government, police, and the general religious population, with all of them proliferating misconceptions.
Through her work and talks, Maia seeks to bring together people who are curious about different faiths and belief systems, fostering understanding, friendship, and a deeper appreciation of the rich diversity within our society and beyond.
She invites you to sit back and enjoy this talk, exploring all that is beautiful in her understanding of what it means to be Pagan — before deciding for yourself what kind of Pagan you might be.
