Dr Louise Newson BSc(Hons) MBChB(Hons) MRCP FRCGP

Louise Newson is a physician, menopause specialist and a member of the UK Government’s Menopause Taskforce. She is passionate about increasing awareness and knowledge of the perimenopause and menopause, and campaigns for better menopause care for all women.

Dr Newson studied Medicine and Pathology at The University of Manchester. She pursued a career in hospital medicine before moving to specialise in General Practice and medical writing. She is a member of the RCP (1998) and a Fellow of RCGP (2016). She is a Visiting Fellow at Murray Edwards College, Cambridge University and was recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Health from Bradford University.

Described as the ‘medic who kickstarted the menopause revolution’, she is the founder of the free award-winning balance menopause support app and the balance-menopause website. She also hosts the Dr Louise Newson podcast, which has been ranked the No.1 medical podcast in the UK. She is also a Sunday Times bestseller and has authored many books.

She has developed a menopause education programme for healthcare professionals which has been downloaded by over 33,000 clinicians globally.

She has written and contributed to many academic papers and abstracts. Louise is involved in numerous research projects with several universities including Cambridge, Liverpool, KCL and Cardiff, and works closely with various charities. Her main research interest is the role of female hormones in reducing biological ageing.

Dr Rebecca Lewis MBBS FRCA DRCOG MRCGP, qualified from Guy’s Medical School and initially pursued a career in Anaesthetics gaining Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists ( FRCA) in 1996. She then changed speciality to General Practice and is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP 2000).She also has a Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists ( DRCOG 1999)

During her time in General Practice, she became interested in the menopause and how dramatically it can affect all aspects of women’s health and their quality of life.

As a result, she is now passionate about improving education and knowledge about the menopause, not only within medicine but in the workplace and society as a whole. Her aim is to make the menopause a positive experience not one hampered by debilitating symptoms, allowing women to get on and enjoy healthy, active lives for many years ahead.

She now works solely within the menopause speciality and dedicates her time to seeing patients, lecturing and writing articles which aim to empower women with evidence-based knowledge so that they can make informed decisions about managing their menopause.
