Historical heft, underdog spunk, and a rip-roaring lineup of dance and vocals – those are the front-page headlines of Newsies, which Lyric Theatre is delighted to bring to the Flynn in November! Based on the real-life New York City newsboy strike of 1899, Disney’s Newsies debuted on Broadway in 2012 and has only become more relevant in the years since its opening. Publishers vs. newsboys, conglomerates vs. the little guy, and the role of media in shaping the public narrative are all themes rippling through the show. But the big story is the dance, choreography, vocals, and toe-tapping musical numbers that will bring the audience to its feet. Find more information at lyrictheatrevt.org.
