About this Event
Did you know? WEDC, the State’s economic development arm, manages over thirty different programs that touch the lives of every person in the State. These run the gambit, from attracting and growing businesses—like the recent $3.3 billion investment by Microsoft in Kenosha—to spurring entrepreneurial activity through tax credits and incentives. The WEDC works to preserve our built environment through an historic preservation tax?credit program. They support woman-owned and diverse businesses with grants and micro-loans and enhance our cities by remediating brownfield sites, while also advancing the state’s cultural tourism by attracting Bravo’s Top Chef to Wisconsin, and much more.
Leading these efforts is Secretary and CEO Missy Hughes, who was appointed by Governor Evers in September 2019. She leads a team of over 100 professionals who support this programming with a comprehensive and collaborative approach. She advocates specifically for the health of our state by strengthening community infrastructure to address people’s financial stability, education, and health by providing access to housing, statewide broadband internet, affordable child care, and a sustainable approach to environmental issues.
Join us for an enlightening program on current WEDC projects, a view of the economic state of our State, and a vision for Wisconsin's success.
