About this Event
Narture CIC is thrilled to present the Newmarket Street Winter Festival on Saturday 14th December, from 1pm till late. After a year dedicated to promoting the arts, revitalising Ayr town centre, and building a vibrant creative community, it’s time to come together and celebrate! Newmarket Street will be buzzing, with shops and businesses hosting a late-night shopping event on Thursday 12th December giving you the chance to support local makers and get your Christmas shopping sorted.
Shop local this Christmas and discover unique gifts crafted by local artisans!
Narture’s unique model of baking real bread to earn the dough to fund the arts has enabled them to cultivate a range of creative spaces across Ayr. Their bakery on Cathcart Street and bread shop/café on Sandgate provide vital support for their arts and community projects.
Located at 30, 32, and 34 Newmarket Street, Narture’s venues include Narture Studios, home to six artist studios, workshop and event spaces, and a wellbeing studio.
MAKE hosts a monthly exhibition programme, a shop featuring local makers, a riso printer, a community darkroom for analogue photography, and regular workshops.
SHAPE, their latest food and arts venue, is currently being developed and will be the festival’s main site. Through this innovative model, Narture fosters creativity and offers Ayr a network of permanent spaces for learning, wellbeing, and artistic expression.
The Winter Market is free to attend and promises festive fun for all ages. Highlights include children’s face painting, a riso Christmas card demo (with card packs available for purchase), and stalls featuring handmade gifts by local artists. There will be seasonal treats to enjoy, from baked goods to festive drinks, including homemade kombucha — and if you’re hunting for unique gifts, you’ll find plenty to browse, from artisanal bakes to bespoke decorations.
