Back to Newbury for this month's Repair Cafe! This will be the last event for 2025.
Our skilled volunteers do their best to repair your items. This helps reduce waste and prolong the life of things so you don't need to spend money to replace them. Enjoy a cuppa while you wait. Repairs are free, but donations are welcome to help fund our future events.
As usual, we are offering repairs of:
~Electrical and electronic items
~Clothing and textiles
~Small items of furniture and wooden objects
~Other general household and garden items
*For all electricals and electronics: Please ensure that you bring any batteries, chargers, ancillary leads, power supplies, speakers, etc. to enable us to fully test the faulty item. For safety reasons, all mains-powered electrical items ๐—บ๐˜‚๐˜€๐˜ be PAT tested before any repair can take place, and again afterwards, even if the item has not been fixed.*
Also available:
~Secateur, knife and scissor sharpening (a limit of 1 large or 2 small items, please)
~Mobile phone and IT advice/troubleshooting
Last items for repair must be checked in ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ the hall 30 minutes before the end of the event (i.e., 4 p.m.). Sometimes there is exceptional demand for certain types of repairs (generally electrical goods), so there may be a long wait or we may have to ask you to come back the following month instead. We, as volunteers, try to offer the best service we can, but it's hard to estimate how long a repair will take.
Please bring one item only. It should be clean and small/light enough for one person to carry. Sorry, we cannot repair microwaves, petrol-driven items, or gas appliances for safety reasons. Even if something canโ€™t be repaired on the spot, we may be able to advise on parts to buy, or how to repair at home. You may be able to rejoin the queue with another item if time allows.
If youโ€™re wondering whether your item can be repaired, please email us at [email protected] with the make and model if applicable, and what needs repairing. Photos can sometimes help. Have a look at the photo albums from our previous events to see the wide variety of items we have repaired so far.
Since our launch in February 2024, we have assessed over 1400 items and saved nearly 2700 kg from waste processing! Thank you for helping us to achieve this.
Looking forward to seeing you at Newbury Methodist Church (RG14 1AN) on Sunday 30th November, 2โ€“4:30 p.m. Note that the event is in the Hall, not the main building.
