Repair Cafe is back for 2025! The first event will be in Newbury later this month. Our skilled volunteers do their best to repair your items. This helps reduce waste and prolong the life of things so you don't need to spend money to replace them. Enjoy a cuppa while you wait. Repairs are free, but donations are welcome to help fund our future events.
As usual, we are offering repairs of:
~Electrical and electronic items
~Clothing and textiles
~Ceramics and jewellery
~Small items of furniture and wooden objects
~Other general household and garden items
*For all electricals and electronics: Please ensure that you bring any batteries, chargers, ancillary leads, power supplies, speakers, etc. to enable us to fully test the faulty item. For safety reasons, all electrical items 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 be PAT tested before being repaired.*
Also available:
~Secateur, knife and scissor sharpening (a limit of 1 large or 2 small items, please)
~Mobile phone and IT advice/troubleshooting
Last items for repair must be checked in 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 the hall 30 minutes before the end of the event (i.e., 4 p.m.).
Please bring one item only. It should be clean and small/light enough for one person to carry. Sorry, we cannot repair microwaves, petrol-driven items, or gas appliances for safety reasons. Even if something can’t be repaired on the spot, we may be able to advise on parts to buy, or how to repair at home. You may be able to rejoin the queue with another item if time allows.
If you’re wondering whether your item can be repaired, please email us at [email protected] with the make and model if applicable, and what needs repairing. Photos can sometimes help.
Have a look at the photo albums from our previous events to see the wide variety of items we have repaired so far.
Across the 10 events we held in 2024, nearly 600 items were saved from waste processing – that’s about 1350 kg, or 1.35 tonnes, that didn't go to landfill! Thank you for helping us achieve this.
Looking forward to seeing you at Newbury Methodist Church Hall (RG14 1AN) on 26th January, 2–4:30 p.m.
