Artist Statement

My artwork will allow the viewer to experience a myriad of bold, brilliant array of hues while demonstrating a variety of forms; such as abstract expressionism, figurative and portraits. These images reveal the deep passion that I have within my work. It’s something about knowing you have a voice that you want to share with the society & the world. My abstract paintings are very organic. There are no types of random sketches or drawing while the concept is being created in my mind. I just allow the energy to flow which consistently recreate that same energy through painting while sculpting with a variety of materials heavily pushed the boundaries of fashion faux pas which plaid is not mixed with stripes or African fabric with polka dots. My primary focus is to allow the viewer to witness a flow of energy or a dance of movement by the use of colors and patterns which has no beginning or no ending. This flow will be infinite. I am focus on a sense of harmony and cohesiveness with the use of color and collage. My jazz painting are inspired from my study of jazz musicians or juke joint scenes. I am captivated on jazz as a form of music because it relates to improvisational methods the same as when I create some of my artwork. There are some selected pieces which represent the portraits as well. When I work I am working with music always playing in the background as added inspiration but I look for the beat in between the beat or the notes in between the notes to which is the true heart beat and the pulse of my artwork.
