New York State Concealed Carry Course is a combination of 16 hours of classroom lecture, as well as a minimum of 2 hours of practical skills including live-fire range instruction. All students are required to meet a minimum shooting standard as well as pass a written examination with a minimum score of 80% or higher. Firearm Rental, Range Fees, Ammo, Ear & Eye Protection all Included.
Students will receive instruction on the following topics:
• General firearm safety, firearm and ammunition function and operation
• Firearm Cleaning and maintenance
• Safe Handling practices
• Range safety rules
• Proper holster considerations/ retention strategies for concealed carry
• Firearm safe storage requirements defined by NYS Law
• State and Federal Gun Laws
• Licensing requirements under NYS law
• Situational awareness
• Conflict de-escalation/ conflict management
• Adverse effects of drug/alcohol consumption
• Use of Deadly Physical Force as defined in NYS law
• Suicide prevention/ recognizing signs of suicide risk
• Pistol marksmanship
• Live-fire range training on the 9mm Sig Sauer M17
What is not included:
• NYS Permit Fees
• Course certificate is not a firearms permit
A full refund minus a $5.00 administration fee, will be approved for cancellations received 7 days in advance of program date / time. No rain checks or credit is authorized. Students failing to meet and/or maintain our safety requirements for the specific class may be removed from training. NO refunds prorated or otherwise will be considered once a session/lesson has begun.
OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC: Except for valid DoD ID card holders, all visitors must obtain a background check to receive a visitor pass to enter West Point prior to class. Normal hours of operation are 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. daily. For more information or for questions call (845) 938-0390.
