Spotlight Presentation: Carbon Intensity Farm Scoring Pilot Program
Info: Presented by: Amanda Nash, Western New York Energy
Funded by: New York Corn & Soybean Growers Association (NYCSGA)
This pilot project evaluated and benchmarked farm-level carbon intensity (CI) scores across 12,435 acres of New York corn production using the DOE Argonne GREET model and Section 45Z frameworks.
Highlights include:
• How farms achieved an average CI score of 21.60 (vs. GREET default of 29.1)
• Field-level data collection and grower attestations
• Third-party verification by EcoEngineers
• Regenerative practices that drove scores even into the negative range
• NY grower readiness for 45Z and future carbon markets
• Opportunities to scale to soybeans and beyond
