New Year's Eve Torchlight Parade and Fireworks - December 31
Join us in bidding farewell to 2023 with a spectacular Torchlight Parade and Fireworks celebration! This vibrant event invites everyone to participate in or watch the parade, followed by a dazzling fireworks display lighting up the night sky.
The festivities kick off at 5:30 PM, starting just outside Ed and Mully’s Restaurant (3905 Big Mountain Road) in the Upper Village. The fireworks will ignite shortly after the parade concludes, creating a perfect way to welcome the New Year.
Spectators are encouraged to gather at the base of Ed’s Run, near Ed & Mully’s, for the best views.
Please note that Night Skiing on Chair 2 will be closed to the public on December 31 for a short time. However, Chairs 3 and 6 will remain open for your night skiing pleasure.

- 5:15 - Chair 2 area closes to night skiing.
- 5:20pm - Torchlight Volunteers load Chair 2 (must be pre-registered)
- 5:45pm - Torchlight & Fireworks
- 6:15 - Night Skiing re-opens after the torchlight and fireworks.
- Chair 3 and 6 remain operating during the Chair 2 closure.

Registration:
- Register here by 4:30 PM on the day of the event.
- Participants must be intermediate or expert skiers or snowboarders and at least 8 years old.
- If you’re under 12, a parent or guardian must register and accompany you.
Participation Details:
- A valid lift ticket or season pass is required.
- Arrive at the base of Chair 2 by 5:00 PM.
- Meet our fantastic Ski and Ride School staff who will guide the parade, help you load the chairlift, provide your torches, and lead you down Ed’s Run.
- We highly recommend wearing low-visibility goggles, a helmet, and outerwear that can handle a bit of mess.

What do I do after I register?
Please double check your entry, make sure it is right. You will be emailed a confirmation/receipt.
What are my responsibilities as a participant?
Events are a group effort. It requires timeliness and accountability of not only the event staff, but of each competitor. There are many details each person is responsible for in order for us all to have a fun day on the snow. Making sure your information is accurate, you are on time and prepared for each event is required.

TRANSPORTATION, PARKING AND SHUTTLES
What are my transport options getting to the event and around the village?
The SNOW Bus will also operate between Whitefish and Whitefish Mountain Resort. A shuttle will operate in the upper village areas, and all parking lots will be open through the event. Please obey all parking signage and park as per normal.
Are helmets required?
Helmets are required to participate in any event.
TICKET INFORMATION
Are there Discounted Lift Tickets for Event Competitors?
Not for this event.
Can I transfer my entry to my friend if I can’t make it to the event?
No. New registrations must be completed by the competitor / guardian.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
It is not required to print your ticket, but it can be helpful. If you intend on purchasing a discounted lift ticket, it is required.
