New Year Workshop: Calligraphy UMA (Horse)

As part of a traditional Japanese New Year custom, this workshop introduces Kakizome, the first calligraphy writing of the year. Participants will learn to write the kanji for “horse” (uma), the zodiac animal of 2026, using Japanese calligraphy. Instructor Kuniharu Yoshida will guide the basics and introduce traditional and expressive styles. Materials are provided, and no experience is required. Participants will complete an original New Year calligraphy piece. Free; registration required.
