New Year Sanctuary: Yin & Nidra for Intentional Renewal

Experience a deeply restorative New Year practice designed to nurture clarity and intentional renewal through extended Yin yoga and guided Yoga Nidra.
Settle into this gentle sanctuary as the practice welcomes you to reflect, release, and set heartfelt intentions for the coming year. Begin by finding a comfortable seat and taking three cleansing breaths, feeling the external world fade gently as you turn inward.
Yin Yoga Sequence
Move through a series of floor-based Yin poses: forward folds, back bends, and twists. Be with each shape for 4 of 5 minutes, using props for comfort, and surrendering deeply to gravity and stillness. With every pose, reflect on affirmations and what you wish to cultivate in your life—for example:
Butterfly: “My priorities are crystal clear.”
Rag Doll: “I allow myself to soften and open.”
Child’s Pose: “I am safe to rest and receive.”
Embrace acceptance, allowing, and present moment awareness throughout these poses are core qualities of Yin yoga.
Yoga Nidra Journey
Transition to Savasana for the guided Nidra. Begin with a full-body relaxation, scanning each area from head to toe, inviting deep release. Through breathwork and visualisation, let go of any residue from the previous year and make space for renewal and balance.
As you enter deeper shapes and moments of stillness, call in your intention (“sankalpa”) for the New Year. Quietly repeat it three times, and feel it move through your heart and body.
Examples:
“I choose peace and compassion.”
“I welcome new growth and opportunity.”
Closing and Integration
Finish with gentle movement, returning to seated with eyes closed, feeling the subtle effects and the certainty of your intention anchoring within you.
No prior experience is needed. Please wear warm layers, a blanket, and any props that support your comfort as we journey inward together
