About this Event
Hi! I’m Leah from New West Improv, and I’d love for you to join me for community, connection, and spontaneity. We’ll explore improv in a small-group setting—no experience required (but welcome).
Flexible agenda: This is not an improv show; everyone will participate! Depending on the group’s collective improv experience, we might touch on core improv principles (“yes, and…”), play a few warm-up games, and/or dive into short scenes. Our previous jams included improv newbies and intermediates. Everyone jumped in with enthusiasm, supported each other with kindness, and generally gave off "good vibes". That's the goal every single time!
Nervous about improv? You're not alone! The goal of the session isn’t to be the next Colin Mochrie (though he is a great improv-er)—it’s to connect with neighbours through the joy of improv.
You are welcome here. Yes, even if you are not based in New West. We celebrate all identities—race, gender, sexuality, and more—because all identities make New West such a vibrant community. We’ll aim to keep the space respectful and free of triggering or offensive content, though improv can sometimes bring out unexpected moments. For that reason, we recommend this jam for participants aged 16+.
Thank you to the Halkomelem speaking peoples whose unceded and unsurrendered land we are fortunate to play, laugh and connect on. Thank you also to the City of New Westminster for their financial support through a 2025 social and cultural vibrancy community grant.
