We are so happy to announce our intro Ceramics workshops with artist & rad human, Eva Conrad of Deposit Unknown. We will rotate class themes and projects. In this mug workshop, we will explore the many approached to handbuilding a mug- the quintessential ceramic collectable. We will cover Pinching, coiling and slab building. We will construct them during the workshop and they will be fired and glazed for you. You will have the option to choose from 8 different glazes, or you can choose to participate in a glazing workshop and go over many techniques for glazing more complex patterns and paintings onto your work. STUDENTS WILL MAKE ONE MUG.
You will leave your creation to be fired by Eva after class and they will be available for pick up at either of our store locations within 2. weeks. Each student will be contacted after they are dropped off and available for pickup. Two firings are required. This cost includes transporting work, electricity, the equipment wear and tear and the labor of loading and unloading work. All costs of class cover supplies, use of tools, two firings and transportation.
Eva Conrad makes ceramics and paintings that straddle contemporary art and craft traditions; through an interest in the longevity of creating beyond necessity. They weave patterns in and out of their ceramic sculpture and paintings repetitively as meditation on systems of being. Her work emerges in the world as a reflection on beautiful moments of attentive introspection, queer identity, intuition and curious play amid seemingly rigid binary systems.
