From Battlefield to Canal Bridge – a Scenic Circuit with a Story� Stoke Golding, Ambion & Around – Long Trail Adventure

� Dog-friendly: Small dogs only – 3 stiles are tricky for larger dogs
� Parking: On-street only – please allow time to park considerately near the pub
� ABOUT THE WALK
Looking for a longer trail with real variety? This 12.5-mile route weaves through the peaceful Leicestershire countryside, touching on village lanes, tranquil towpaths, and scenic open fields.
We’ll be walking clockwise so we reach Sutton Wharf Café about an hour before the end – a perfect stop for lunch and loos.
Expect hidden heritage, rich views, and a proper trail vibe with plenty of stiles (most dog-friendly, but not all!). It’s a long but fairly flat walk that rewards every step.
� Distance & Terrain: 12.5 miles – flat walking, a mix of quiet roads, towpaths, and field tracks. Easy underfoot, but the distance makes this a medium-grade walk
� Refreshments: Main option is Sutton Wharf Café , with possible extras depending on timing and availability in Market Bosworth
� Pace: Expect at least 5.5 hours with a group (solo time ~5 hours)
