About this Event
Dungeons and Dragons in Worcester
Built with new players in mind, this event provides the perfect jumping on point for players that have never been to the club before, and for those that have never played D&D before. If you need it, we'll walk you through character creation, teach you the basic mechanics of the game, and run you through a thrilling adventuring alongside other players jumping into our events for the first time.
Our events are hosted at The Dice Box, which sits right in the heart of Worcester city centre. It's a fantastic space that serves food, drinks, and has enough room to play comfortably.
(Please note that while this event is free you will be responsible for covering your own table costs at the venue. This will be £7.50 per person attending. Thank you!)
What you need to play
We provide everything you need to play the game. We have the books, character sheets, pens and paper, and even dice for you to borrow. Though, you are very welcome to bring your own if you have any of these.
What to expect
At The Critical Hit Club, we run lighthearted adventures that are fun and full of fantasy. We like to have a laugh at the table and don't take ourselves too seriously. You can always expect a welcoming atmosphere, especially if you are new, because we want everyone to feel comfortable and have a great time at the table.
What is a One Shot?
This type of event is known as a one shot game, that means the adventure will only last for a single session. This is great for people who are looking to try D&D, or just want a commitment-free space to play where they can drop in and out of our games while continuing to play and progress the same character.
The Setting
Every year, for over a hundred years, the Realm of Wizardlocke has hosted a Tournament of Champions, and for over a hundred years, it has drawn the attention of every adventurer, hero, scoundrel, upstart, explorer, and treasure hunter from across the Further Kingdoms. They form adventuring parties, take on the realm's endless dangers, quest to their near final breath, and at the end of the summer season one of them wins the tournament and is propelled into legend and glory.
You are here to compete. Your reasons for doing so are completely your own. You might seek the fame the tournament brings. Maybe the wealth. Maybe even that single favour. In any case, the first thing you need to do is raise the money needed to buy entry into the tournament — one hundred and fifty pieces of gold. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to make money in this realm, or, if you're lucky enough, you might find a wealthy enough person to sponsor your entry...
Creating your own Character
The first hour (or less) of the session will be dedicated to creating your character. We'll roll your stats, walk you through the character options, and help you build something unique that you can use in the rest of our events!
