✨ Collaborations with world-famous musicians and orchestras
✨ Award-winning composer with works performed across Scandinavia
Don’t miss this chance to feel the heartbeat of New Orleans right here in Liepaja!
🎶 About the concert
Helge Førde played in the first Norwegian jazz ensemble to be invited to play at an American jazz festival in 1976, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Since then, he has been enthusiastic about and studied the music that originated in the southern states of the USA.
In 1981, he started The Brazz Brothers, which has played over 5,000 concerts in 37 different countries. Among other things, they have collaborated with the Vilnius Symphony Orchestra and also played at the jazz festival in Klaipeda. Helge's main instrument is the trombone.
At this concert, he and the Palanga Wind Orchestra want to present the exciting music that originated in the «melting pot» New Orleans at the beginning of the last century, namely ragtime, jazz, blues and gospel.
The music has been arranged especially for the Palanga Wind Orchestra and Helge Førde will lead the orchestra.
We will follow the music's journey from South Africa and across the ocean to America. We will visit several styles, the different instrument groups will be able to show off and the orchestra will also be open to improvisation.
This will simply be a rhythmic fireworks display of a concert and a tribute to the old masters like Louis Armstrong, King Oliver, Jelly Roll Morten. For the occasion, Førde has composed a tribute to the city called, "New Orleans Parade."
