About this Event
Come learn the basics of open-hearth cooking in a hands-on cooking class! In our private classes, groups of 2-4 participants will work directly with our historical cooking experts in our open-hearth kitchen to prepare and enjoy a selection of snacks and historical beverages sourced from Creole Cookery and other 19th-century cookbooks. Participants will learn how to interpret 19th-century recipes and to cook without electricity using open flame, coals, and embers as heat sources. Participants can enjoy the foods prepared on site or take home to enjoy later. All ingredients and materials are included with the event fee, and dietary accommodations are available upon request at least 2 weeks in advance of class.
