According to the ancient Khoi tradition, their community gathered every New Moon to co-create a sacred space under the stars where dance and music would take them to transcendental states: ecstasis, trance, co-regulation and healing. This ritual inspired New Moon Ecstatic Dance - a collaboration of conscious dance DJs, contact improv facilitators, fire team and dancing humans. 17.00 - 17.30 Arrival Set
17.30 - 18.30 Firedancing workshop with Fire Crew (you can try various fire props under gentle guidance of our fire people)
18.30 - 20.30 Cacao ceremony and ecstatic dance with DJ AYIS
Tickets (R250 on Quicket, R300 cash on the beach. Children's ticket R100, or free if without headphones)

What to bring: water, sun hat, food, swimwear, towels (if you want to swim) and something warm to wear after the dance.
Directions: walk down to Clifton 1st Beach. Facing the ocean, turn right. Walk across Clifton 1st beach towards boulders. There is a tiny pathway that leads you over the rocks to Clifton Zero (Moses) beach. We are there from 17.00

This gathering is not just an amazing ecstatic dance party, but a movement towards repair.

What to expect
Firedancing Workshop: A gentle invitation into movement, connection, and embodied curiosity. Open to all levels — and especially to those who always thought “I can’t dance.” Trust me, you can. And we have props for you to try. If you feel brave, you will be welcomed to spin fire after sunset.
Ecstatic dance wave is designed to rise the rhythm in you, make your blood flow and evoke deeply nourishing ecstatic states. Gabriel Roth classified the rhythmic patters of flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical and stillness, but indigenous people of the planet long before practiced ecstatic dance as a main community ritual. Modern ecstatic dance DJ set is a variety of genres, weaved together sonically so to encourage you to loose yourself in dance and return revived, flowy and content.
