This course is for NY State Residents who want a NJ and/or CT Non-Resident Carry Permit. You must have a valid NY State Pistol Permit to attend
(OR if you do not live in NY, you must have a valid permit in your state of residence).
The total cost is $195 for NJ if we are supplying you with 9x19 ammo and $180 if you will be bringing your own ammo.
The total cost for CT is also $195 if we are supplying you with 9x19 ammo and $180 if you will be bringing your own ammo.
Total cost for both NJ and CT is $340. ($370 if we are supplying you with 9x19 ammo)
For NJ/CT:
Students will need:
* 50 rounds of ammo for NJ and/or 50 rounds for CT
* Eye and ear protection, if you have it
* Rigid holster that is made for your handgun
(**Inside the waistband holsters are acceptable if they are molded and do not collapse.)
* At least 1 spare handgun magazines (2 spare is best)
* Magazine carriers are preferred
* Pants with belt loops and a sturdy belt
* Appropriate footwear for walking, running, and movement.
NJ’s training standard requires a lecture on safety, shooting fundamentals and a NJ specific law review. There is no written test.
For the live fire qualification portion of the course, students will be required to:
Demonstrate safe and proficient pistol handling throughout, including safe loading, unloading, drawing, malfunction clearance and re-holstering.
· Demonstrate the ability to follow instructions and ALL range commands.
· Demonstrate marksmanship skills and score 80% hits on an FBI Q target. (40 out of 50 rounds) on the course of fire which is 10 rounds (2 strings of 5 rounds) at each of 3 yards, 5 yards, 7 yards, 10 yards, and 15 yards.
· At the end of the course of fire, clear all weapons, and holster a safe and empty weapon.
Students will be given basic explanation of the course of fire. Once the live fire course starts, no coaching or assistance will be given. This is a qualification that requires more skill from participants than the NY course does.
What this means is that if you do not meet the standard for any of the above skills, you will be disqualified and no passing course certificate will be given. Any and all safety violations will result in the removal of the offending student from the range. There will be no second chances.
This is a “Go/No Go” exercise. Those who pass will receive a certificate that can be submitted to NJ with their application.
We are advising all participants that if you are not prepared to meet this standard to seek additional training until you believe you can meet the standard. We can also provide the training needed to help you prepare for this and much more.
Additionally, we want to be clear that each participant is required to apply for the NJ non-resident permit independently of this course. We will provide guidelines for applying to all participants.
