Make a 2 plates
Some experience of throwing is essential. You must be able to competently centre clay and throw 1lb.
Our Intermediate IV throwers course is designed for potters who would like to make plates. It is also suitable for beginners stuck in a beginners throwing rut.
In week 1 we take a look at the challenges of throwing wide flat objects and focus on techniques to help you make plates with and without mustard wells.
In week 2 we’ll be turning the plates to add footrings and slip decorating.
If your preference is for glaze decoration you can add an optional 3rd week (£20) after your plates have been bisque fired. We have a range of Amaco and Mayco glazes for sale in the gallery or you can use your own glazes.
Unlimited clay and slip for decoration.
Expert tuition
Transparent glazing and firing included.
Amaco and Mayco glazes are available to purchase in the studio shop
2 hours studio time each session. Clean up takes around 20 minutes so plan this in your timings.
