🎥OCTOBER 24: Phil Tippett: Mad Dreams and Monsters
From the directors of the critically acclaimed The Frankenstein Complex and Ray Harryhausen: Special Effects Titan comes a new documentary about a legendary movie artist. Winner of two Academy Awards for The Return of the Jedi and Jurassic Park, Phil Tippett is a groundbreaking stop-motion animator, designer and filmmaker who has given life to a legion of unforgettable cinematic creatures throughout his career, from iconic characters like Star Wars’ Jabba the Hutt to the giant alien bugs of Starship Troopers. But beyond this amazing Hollywood resume lies an inspired and idiosyncratic artist who spends most of his days feverishly constructing wild creations in his workshop out of anything and everything he can find. With exclusive and unlimited access to the collections and archives of Tippett Studio, Mad Dreams and Monsters explores the unique art and legacy of Phil Tippett, from his work with George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Paul Verhoeven to more personal movies like Prehistoric Beast and Mad God.

🎥NOV 7: Eephus
Two recreational baseball teams, the River Dogs and Adler’s Paint, have been meeting on their New England field on Sunday afternoons for longer than anyone can remember. These middle-aged sportsmen can’t run as fast as they used to or connect as reliably with a pitch, but their vigorous appetite for socializing, squabbling, and busting chops remains undiminished. After the know-nothing county board opts to raze the baseball diamond to make way for a new middle school, the teams meet for one final game at their beloved Soldier’s Field, with girlfriends, kids, and local hooligans as intermittent spectators. As day turns to night and the innings bleed together, the players face the uncertainty of a new era. Lovingly laid in a vanished Massachusetts of the mid-1990s, Carson Lund’s poignant feature debut plays like a lazy afternoon, perfectly attuned to the rhythms of America’s eternal pastime. Named for a rarely deployed curveball, Eephus is both a ribald comedy for the baseball connoisseur and a movie for anyone who’s ever lamented their community slipping away.
🎫Age: Film is unrated.
🎫Time: 2pm & 7pm
🎫Runtime: 99 minutes.

🎥DECEMBER 19: Daaaaaali!
For journalist Judith Rochant (Anaïs Demoustier) the assignment to interview renowned artist Salvador Dalí is a great career opportunity–if only he would agree to sit still and answer a single question. What begins as a 15-minute conversation blows up into a Bonafide cinematographic documentary portrait, provided the world’s most enormous cameras are available to film it. As Judith’s interview is delayed, detoured, disrupted, and deranged by Dalí’s inexhaustible self-regard, the journalist finds herself becoming the subject. The legendary painter’s artistry and ego know no bounds, and Daaaaaalí! dutifully casts no less than five actors (Edouard Baer, Jonathan Cohen, Giles Lellouche, Pio Marmaï, and Didier Flamand) as Salvador Dalí in this prismatic portrait. The prolific Quentin Dupieux’s latest comedy is an exercise in dream logic and surrealist homage, with the rug pulled out from under you again and again before you even manage to get up off the floor.
🎫Age: Film is unrated.
🎫Time: 2pm & 8pm
🎫Runtime: is 77 minutes.
🎫Language: French and Spanish with English subtitles.
