Salsa NY Style: History, Style, and Benefits
Salsa NY, or New York-style salsa, started in New York City’s Latin dance clubs in the 1970s. Inspired by Puerto Rican and Cuban rhythms, it was shaped by New York’s own mix of jazz and R&B, creating a unique and lively style. Dancer Eddie Torres helped define its signature “on 2” timing, which makes the moves flow with the rhythm in a smooth and stylish way.

L’Atelier Mambo is not a typical commercial dance studio. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality instruction with a personal touch. Every student receives individualized attention, and our teaching adapts to meet their unique learning style and needs. With over three decades of experience, our mission is to help students express themselves through the rhythm of salsa, guiding them to create their own dance story.
