About this Event
If you moved to Calgary recently (within two months to two years), CBC Calgary would like to invite you to a special workshop we're putting on in collaboration with Wandering In YYC's Shabina Adeel and the Calgary Public Library.
Come meet Shabina and the CBC team, and make connections with other new residents who are facing the same joys and challenges. And have fun with it, too!
When: Nov. 30, 2024 from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Where: Calgary Central Library
Cost: Free
Register: Eventbrite
We'll grab a coffee and snacks, work in small groups and look at questions like: What were you seeking when you moved to Calgary? What would it take to make you feel "Calgarian"? What were the biggest challenges you faced and how did (or are) you solving them?
This is about sharing, connecting and brainstorming.
To support and inform the community, CBC will be producing a series of stories about this afterward and some photos will be taken at the event. But as for interviews and sharing your story publicly, you have a choice on if/where and how you want to do that.
Why? Because Calgary's population is booming. We just saw nearly 100,000 new people move to the Calgary region in a year. That's huge! And that's why we'd like to invite some of those new residents to share their stories and help us dig into what that experience is really like.
Wandering in YYC and the Calgary Public Library are also hoping to use your insights to inform their work.
A strong city is one that understands itself, especially in a time of change. So hearing from new residents like you is important to helping this community thrive. We'd love for you to join that effort.
