Key Speaker: Leigh Carter – Healthcare Lead for Turner & Townsend in the Northwest

Leigh has a keen interest in Modern Methods of Construction and believes MMC needs to be implemented en masse within the sector to unlock the bottleneck and long gestation period of binging critical healthcare facilities online. Leigh will introduce the NHP discussing the programmes future plans and the objectives they want to achieve including the cohort delivery programme and 48 new hospitals to be delivered by 2030.



Key Speaker: Sheldon Walsh – Director at Ryder Architecture

Sheldon has worked with many NHS Trust’s, CCG’s and private providers across the UK. He is a genuine expert in the field of healthcare design and has delivered major capital projects using a variety of procurement routes and contractual arrangements. As a leading architectural practice in healthcare design, Ryder are currently engaged in several projects within the New Hospitals Programme. Sheldon will elaborate on their practice involvement from a design perspective using The National Rehabilitation Centre, Whipps Cross New Hospital and West Suffolk New Hospital as case studies.



Key Speaker: Michelle Humphreys - Director of Strategic Projects Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust

Michelle has 20 years’ experience driving and delivering complex urban regeneration programmes and projects. Early 2019, Michelle joined Manchester NHS Trust, and is able to utilise her skills in Regeneration, Masterplan implementation, procurement, design development, stakeholder engagement, project management, public investment. Michelle will be discussing the redevelopment of the North Manchester General Hospital through the New Hospital Programme which will signal the most significant investment into the site since the 1800s. Michelle will provide an overview of the visionary masterplan and update on progress towards delivering the new North Manchester General which needs to bring maximum opportunities to local people both in terms of better health outcomes and sustainable economic growth.



Key Speaker: Paul Fitzpatrick - Director of Estates & Facilities Liverpool University Hospital NHS FT & New Royal Liverpool Hospital remediation Director

Paul has worked in healthcare; engineering, construction and facilities management for over 35 years. in 2019, Aintree and Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals Trusts merged to form Liverpool University Hospitals NHSFT to which Paul was appointed Director of Estates and Facilities for the new Trust, working with Estates and Facilities teams of the previous trusts to create a single trust wide service. Paul already had delivered a circa £400 million portfolio of healthcare capital projects, when following merger, he was appointed Project Director of the £375 million New Royal Liverpool remediation project. This projects is one of the first to be completed under cohort 1 funding and will be handed over in the week of the IHEEM conference. Paul, supported by the delivery team will highlight on the challenges encountered and how the building has finally become ready to accept patients and staff despite the turbulent delivery journey.
