The New Hope-Solebury High School Choir is led by Hollie Bucha. The choir is comprised of students from grades 9-12 and is a vibrant part of the school’s performing arts initiative. This choir is highly accomplished and has performed all over the world. They have performed in areas such as the MetLife Building in New York City, Kult Hof Bei in Salzburg, Melk Abbey in Austria, Vienna Central Cemetery in Austria, Votivkirche in Austria, Normandy American Cemetery in France and La Madeleine in France. They have also taken home many trophies from local choir competitions. The New Hope-Solebury School District emphasizes a commitment to the arts, seeking to enrich the learning experience for all students through creative pursuits. The choral program operates within this philosophy, aiming to empower all learners for a world of possibilities by developing musical literacy, ensemble skills, discipline, and a lifelong appreciation for vocal music.
S. Hollie Bucha has been involved in music since the age of three. She has played flute, piccolo, piano and sung in various ensembles. She has even taken on roles such as Drum Major and performed at the Rose Bowl Parade. Hollie has a private piano studio where she has taught private piano lessons for 13 years. Hollie graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2019 from West Chester University with a degree in Music Education with a focus in piano and vocal performance. She is a member of both Phi Theta Kappa and Pi Lambda Theta Honors Societies. She has been an educator in the school setting for 5 years and has taught all grade levels. Hollie is currently the middle and high school Choral Director in the New Hope-Solebury School. Along with her scholarly accomplishments, she has recently gotten married to her loving husband, Evan Bucha.
Mr. Nicholas Wehr serves as the orchestra director for the New Hope-Solebury School District in New Hope, Pennsylvania. His primary responsibilities include teaching lessons and large ensemble classes to grades three through twelve. A respected clinician and presenter, Mr. Wehr speaks annually at music education and research conferences around the country on topics such as motivation, recruitment, longevity, and success of orchestra programs. Notable conferences have included the Pennsylvania Music Educators All State Conference, the NAfME All Eastern Conference, and the ASTA national conference. As a conductor, Mr. Wehr works with local and statewide honors orchestras for various schools and honors organizations in Pennsylvania. Mr. Wehr holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Ithaca College and Masters’ Degrees from Temple University and Towson University.
