About this Event
New Farm Nature Reserve is a 73 hectare site that Worcestershire County Council are creating into a Nature Reserve from an old tenant farm.
We’ve been undertaking a large scale tree planting project since 2021 to plant 40,000 trees using a grant from the Forestry Commission. Join us to look around the project and discuss the many pitfalls, barriers and successes of the project.
The project was part of Worcestershire County Council's commitment to plant 150,000 trees across our estates.
We’ll meet at The Valley at 10.30am and walk over to New Farm Nature Reserve and Ashmore’s Farm Nature Reserve. We’ll walk round the reserves and look at the tree planting project and talk about the issues we’ve faced (and successes) of delivering this large scale project.
We’ll also look at some additional nature add on projects that we’ve created and talk about ideas for the future. We have funding from the Forestry Commission and we can also talk about this.
We’ll have a picnic lunch there and aim to be back at the car park to leave around 2.30pm. There will be quite a lot of walking involved. This will be an outdoor event so bring appropriate boots and clothing.
Meet at The Valley, Evesham Country Park. Please bring a packed lunch and drink, there are no shops on site.
