‘LEX McFADYEN and MADELEINE HAND: 40 Years in the Making’ The Covid Tier 4 in Glasgow put paid to Lex and Madeleine's show opening on 5th December at The Glasgow Gallery but the the exhibition will go ahead from 5th January 2021.
The great news is the Show will be hung the week commencing 15th December and that means we can offer visitors a 'SNEAK PEEK' ahead of Christmas with the gallery open Friday 18th, Saturday 19th, Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd. The Exhibition will then run for the months of January and February.
It would be great if you could come and see the show
From meeting on their first day at Glasgow School of Art, this is the exhibition that was always going to happen.

Artists Madeleine Hand and Lex McFadyen met on their first day at Art School and have remained firm friends ever since. They went on to share a studio, to live in the same Glasgow flat and to support, critique and encourage each other throughout their extensive careers. They have exhibited in the same shows, both in the UK and France, but this is the first time the pair have collaborated on their own large scale, two artist exhibition.
The Glasgow Gallery, in the heart of the city, is the ideal space to show their formidable works, being just a stone’s throw from where the pair first met. McFadyen’s oils reflect the influence of his two studios, on the Crinan Canal in Argyll and in the medieval village of Noyers sur Serein in Burgundy France. Hand’s work is strongly inspired by the beautiful countryside surrounding her home in Perthshire. In addition, during the opening weekend, one of the spaces within the Gallery has been given over to some new, large experimental pieces from McFadyen. Always learning from each other, sharing ideas and experiences, this is the perfect opportunity to see McFadyen and Hand’s contrasting artistic styles in the perfect Glasgow city centre venue.
