In this relief carving and printing workshop students will learn basic relief carving skills with linoleum and basic printing skills without a press. Along with making a block and a one-color print, our instructor will explain and demonstrate different methods of taking photography and designs to “carvable” and “printable” methods for one layer. Please bring a design or photo, something you enjoy or might be fun to try. We will look at physical methods and digital methods to translate these images from photos, to carved on the surface, to then being printed on paper.
Please bring your photo or design as a physical copy or digital file, perhaps within a phone, flash drive, laptop, or tablet. We will have a scanner and printer to exchange media between physical and digital. We will be working with oil-based inks so wear clothes you are okay getting permanently stained. Aprons and all other materials will be provided.
This is a 3 hour class from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. on November 2nd. Tickets are $40, and we require a minimum of 5 students to run this class.
