Due to inclement weather, this event is postponed from January 18, 2024 to April 18, 2024. Thank you!As a geologist and archaeologist, Scott Pike, PhD (Willamette University) is pursuing research using geological theories and methodologies to tackle archaeological and art history problems. One project uses geologic principals and methods to understand how the landscape influences the development of human cultures and, in turn, how dynamic landscapes influence social and cultural stability and change. This includes a study of floor samples collected from multiple monumental structures at the Neolithic site of the Ness of Brodgar in Orkney, Scotland. Presented by the Spokane Society of the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA). Free admission.
