About this Event
In the spirit of continual improvement, and building on our already robust practice, GBS is launching a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Curriculum and Assessment Design — a strategic framework to ensure our programmes are academically robust, inclusive, and aligned with sector-leading standards.
Developed in response to a comprehensive curriculum audit, the SOP supports programme teams in designing learning experiences that are current, inclusive, and responsive to student needs. It promotes a future-ready curriculum - embedding diverse perspectives, accessible learning pathways, and innovative assessment practices.
Kickstarting with Phase One: Programme Design & the UK Quality Code
To support the rollout of the SOP, a four-part training programme has been developed by the Department of Education. All staff involved in teaching and supporting student learning are encouraged to participate in the training, and it all begins with Phase One: Programme Design and the UK Quality Code.
This initial session will explore:
· How to design modules and programmes aligned with the UK Quality Code
· Use of QAA Benchmark Statements, FHEQ, SEEC and RQF Level Descriptors
· Structuring effective programme-level Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs)
The session offers essential guidance on the fundamental quality steps in programme and module design - knowledge every academic needs to ensure their teaching aligns with sector standards. The training is strongly recommended for anyone participating in the institution-wide curriculum review, as the topics covered are directly relevant to the process.
