For many, Ramadan can be a time of renewal and yet, it can also be shaped by stress, anxiety, and expectations from self and others.
This community workshop offers practical tools grounded in mental health research and Islamic principles, moving us towards a grounded space of peace and connection during this sacred month.

Guest Speaker: Dr. Quratulain Gulamhussein received her PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Minnesota, focusing on identity development and mental health in diverse Muslim communities. She completed her predoctoral clinical work at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx and her postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University. Dr. Gulamhussein currently works as Assistant Professor at SUNY Old Westbury conducting research and teaching psychology coursework. She also serves as Licensed Psychologist at NYU Islamic Center, providing therapy and outreach for Muslim students.
Pillars of Peace aims to create a trauma-informed organization that is based on an empowerment model of services which focus on cultivating an atmosphere of support and encouragement. Our mission and goals are rooted in the Universal Declaration on Human Rights and we will continue to advocate for these basic rights on behalf of survivors of gender-based violence.
