Nevers
Featuring Clare Cooper (Australia) on guhzeng and Jean-Philippe Gross (France) on electro-acoustic devices, Nevers sometimes sounds like a fire in an electronic flea market, other times like the amplification of an insect funeral march. The duo finds common ground between Clare Cooper’s Chinese guhzeng and Jean-Philippe Gross’ lo-fi microphones, electroacoustic devices and localized speaker system.

Strasbourg’s Jean-Philippe Gross will also perform a solo set, of electronic music using a dedicated feedback system.

Clare Cooper is a musician and Design Lecturer from Sydney. Her work in creative community projects includes collaborative composition, speculative design, and critical listening. She co-founded the NOW now (2001), Splinter Orchestra (Sydney 2000), Splitter Orchester (Berlin 2009), and Frontyard Projects (2016).
Jean-Philippe Gross (Strasbourg – France) is a composer and improviser, performing with a dedicated feedback system often utilising multiple small speakers positioned around the performance space. In the studio, he continues his research with a “Serge modular system”. He has composed music for dance and performance, as well as for contemporary ensembles such as Ensemble Dedalus.
Nevers is presented with the support of Rise / La Muse en Circuit - Musica.
---
Oghum is the interstellar duo of Nell Thomas (Orchestra of Spheres, Cookie Brooklyn and the Crumbs) and Jonny Marks (All Seeing Hand, Mean Bones), performing on Synthi AKS, theremin and other assorted items. Oghum blends electronic sounds from times past with an array of acoustic and found sounds, using nuanced improvisation to create detailed and tangible sonic environments, invoking memory and transporting the listener through narrow gaps into wide open otherworldly spaces.
