Nevermore: An Evening with Raven

Few antagonists in the history of sports-entertainment have stirred as much controversy in the squared circle as the man from The Bowery called Raven. The grungy sociopath terrorized opponents and fans alike in major wrestling organizations, including WWE, WCW and the original incarnation of ECW.
Raven may have looked like a roadie for Pearl Jam, but he had the brains to become one of the ring’s most influential leaders. With an IQ of more than 140, the gutter punk became a member of Mensa and used his intellect to recruit a cult of followers when Stevie Richards brought him to ECW in 1995. Surrounded by converts like Richards, Blue Meanie, The Pitbulls and Cactus Jack, the sadistic messiah became a villainous idol in Philadelphia by employing a mesmerizing blend of an indomitable demeanor and glib prose. His signature signoff became Edgar Allen Poe’s elegant line, “Quoth the Raven, ‘Nevermore.’”
On October 21st, Jimmy's is thrilled to bring Raven to Baltimore before the debut of his film, featuring a Q&A hosted by 98 Rock's Justin Schlegel. You can upgrade your ticket to VIP, which will include a meet & greet with Raven and an autograph as well.
“Wrestling is such a brutal business, it doesn’t surprise people that it attracts sociopaths, fame whores, coke whores and adrenaline whores, but why did it attract an artist?” asks Billy Corgan, frontman for the Smashing Pumpkins and wrestling promoter.
Nevermore: The Raven Effect examines the pivotal shift in wrestling history, through the eyes of Raven/Scott Levy, a brilliant, inventive, complicated and controversial performer. To those in the know, the ECW was an extreme and hazardous wrestling circuit that featured bloody matches, often involved real weapons, and bonkers story angles.
Raven was instrumental in setting the no-holds-barred tone of ECW and influencing the direction of wrestling culture in the process. Now approaching sixty, Nevermore is a look back at an era when an extreme personality thrived in an extreme environment - the only question is, how did he live to tell the tale?
Directed by Geordie Day.
Featuring: Raven, Chris Jericho, Billy Corgan, Rob Van Dam, Diamond Dallas Page, Bubba Ray Dudley, Tommy Dreamer, The Sandman, Perry Saturn, Kevin Sullivan, Blue Meanie, Shane Douglas, Lodi, Brian Meyers, D'Lo Brown, Buff Bagwell, Sami Callihan, Moose, Scott D'Amore.
