Nevaris is a music project from NYC led by percussionist Agustín Nevaris, who relocated to State College in 2021. The band brings funk, dub, and Afro-Latin grooves to the stage, with former Fela Kuti drummer Jojo Kuo behind the kit, alongside breakbeat specialist Lockatron. Agustín Nevaris provides vocals, congas, and keys, pulling from a catalog of four studio albums, including 2023’s “Reverberations,” produced by Bill Laswell and described by Carlos Santana as “supreme creativity”.
Joining them on February 6th at Manny’s is grammy nominated bassist Josh Werner (Lee Perry, Matisyahu, James Brandon Trio), and grammy nominated multi-instrumentalist Peter Apfelbaum (Hieroglyphics, Phish, Don Cherry), celebrated local vocalist Eric Ian Farmer, and guitarist Matt Dickey.
Their first three albums were released under the project name “Loud Apartment.” Nevaris has two albums due for release in 2026, including “Mindfunk”, produced by Bill Laswell, and “SoundSession”, a live studio album recorded live with a 9 piece iteration of the band. This is one not to miss!
