Join us for Neurodivergent Kids Book Club, a monthly book club for neurodivergent* school-age youth age 8 and older, designed to help them find community with peers and joy in reading! Registration is required using this link: https://timberland.bibliocommons.com/events/admin/event/6750f080b41279410059ca18
This group meets in the Lacey Timberland Library's meeting room on the second Saturday of each month from 2-3 pm (with occasional exceptions). Parents and caregivers are encouraged to stay nearby, but to leave the room if it is safe to do so, as a way of encouraging the kids' social interaction and participation.
Everyone gets a free copy of the book each month, provided with support from the Friends of the Lacey and Olympia Library groups, and there are plenty of accessible seating and sensory aids to help participants self-regulate during the meetings, donated by our partners at Sensory Tool House.
Registration is required. Please contact Naomi at the Lacey Library ([email protected]) or Freddy at the Olympia Library ([email protected]) with any questions or requests for accommodation. Once successfully registered, you will receive an email with information on how to get a copy of this month's book.
January-June 2025 Reading List:
For discussion at January 11 meeting: White Fox, by Chen Jiatong
February 8: Warriors Graphic Novel: The Prophecies Begin #1, adapted and illustrated by Natalie Riess and Sara Goetter

April 12: Frankie's World: A Graphic Novel, by Aoife Dooley
May 10: The No-Brainer's Guide to Decomposition, by Adrianna Cuevas
June 14: Graphic Novel Grab-bag!
*We are using neurodivergent (ND) broadly, encompassing anyone whose mind functions significantly differently from what is considered "typical" in society. Not everyone who could benefit from participating in this book club will identify with the neurodivergent label, and no diagnosis is needed in order to participate.
