About this Event
Join Becky Aten (they/she) for an interactive Yoga for Neurodiversity workshop exploring the joy of connection through stimmy, playful movement and mindfulness practices in a neuro-affirming environment.
In a society that isn’t designed with neurodiversity in mind, yoga practice can provide an opportunity to celebrate the differences that make us unique, and to unmask our true nature– Joy! All minds and bodies deserve to be accepted, understood, cared for, and valued, and when we explore yoga in an affirming way, all of us can experience the joy of being ourselves.
During this 90-minute workshop you can expect:
- Flexible ways to participate and communicate however you feel most comfortable.
- Gentle seated yoga and mindful movement with options for different needs.
- An info-dump from the heart about unmasking neurodivergent joy through yoga.
- Opportunities to question, reflect, and share with the group.
- Space for self-regulation. Sensory tools like fidgets, plushies, and comfort items are encouraged.

About the facilitator:
Hi, I'm Becky (they/she). I wear many hats in my work as a neurodiversity advocate, human resources professional, neuroqueer yoga facilitator, and a space-holder and bridge-builder for the neurodivergent community. I'm on a mission to help us embrace neurodiversity and unmask our differences through the practice of yoga, and I'm passionate about co-creating welcoming, accessible, and neuro-affirming environments for self-exploration and community care.
Becky lives on the ancestral lands of the Peoria, Kickapoo, Potawatomi, Ho-Chunk, and other Great Lakes Nations in southeastern Wisconsin. They enjoy having a bit of a rebellious spirit, exploring forested hiking trails, petting moss, getting nerdy with science and sci-fi, and playing tabletop games. Becky is drawn to yoga practices that focus on gravity, joyfulness, and non-harm, including cozy, grounding yoga with plenty of props, and stimmy, rhythmic movements with sensory tools.
