For those with neurodivergent brains, navigating a world that was not made for them is a challenge, more often than not. Additionally, finding support and companionship can feel exhausting due to lack of understanding and burnout. Daily life has a way of sneaking up and taking its toll on ND brains faster than we often know.Neurodivergent conditions include but are not limited to Autism, ADHD/ADD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, anxiety, OCD, BPD, and Tourette Syndrome.
This group was created to provide ND individuals in the Sterling area with a safe space to discuss the highs and lows that come with navigating the neurotypical world. If you consider yourself to be neurodivergent (self- or formally-diagnosed), this will be a time to share your thoughts with other ND adults, gather resources, and learn how to better understand your brain. Each evening will have a main topic of discussion to begin with and will also give time to exchange personal experiences with other like-minded individuals.
The group will meet on the 4th Thursday of each month, at 6:30pm. The location will be Rooted Wellness Center (3101 Freeport Road, Sterling, IL 61081). Please follow the sidewalk around the building and enter through the door that faces the road.
Please feel free to bring support items and other people to help you feel most comfortable, if you wish.
If you have any questions, please contact Katie Rodriguez: call/text 815-214-9201, email [email protected].
*Disclaimer: The group will be facilitated by Katie Rodriguez, who is a neurodivergent speech-language pathologist, but she will not be acting in a professional role for this group. This group is purely for social support and no direct professional medical or behavioral interventions will be provided.
