About this Event
Neuroscience is an interdisciplinary field, combining a dizzying number of subjects from engineering and computer science to developmental biology. The goal is to understand how our brain and nervous system determine how we think, feel, and act. So where do we stand in that quest? How is the brain organized, and can it be understood as a sum of its parts?
In this 3-hour neuroscience crash course, we will address these questions by learning the fundamentals of neuroanatomy and neuroplasticity. Lecture and discussion will be accompanied by a hands-on sheep brain dissection.
Throughout the class, we’ll connect neuroscience to everyday life so that participants leave with a greater understanding of their own brain and behavior.
COVID-19 Class Cancellation Policy
If you are feeling unwell, suspect that you have been exposed to COVID-19 or test positive, please do not attend and let us know ASAP ([email protected]). If you cancel after our 7-day policy, we cannot refund your ticket, but we can exchange and offer credits toward future classes. If you have signed up for Biohacker Boot Camp, we will automatically transfer your registration to the next month’s dates unless you tell us otherwise.

Meet the Instructor
Casey Lardner (she/her) is the Executive Director of Genspace, the world’s first community biology lab. She holds a Ph.D. in neuroscience from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and completed postdoctoral research at Columbia University. Her research interests lie in how we model complex human emotions and behavior in model organisms, and she finds herself enamored with any and all brains and minds – microbial, murine, human, or otherwise.
