Speakers
Alan Northen FRICS, MCIArb, lead author of RICS New Rules of Measurement Volume 2 (NRM2) 2nd Edition 2021. Member of RICS wholelifecycle carbon assessment practice standard working group.
Founder and Managing Director of Northen Limited, Northen Surveying Services, Northen Quantum, Northen Quantum Expert.
For the past 14 years, Alan has successfully run Northen Surveying Services, founded as a family business in 2009. Leading a team of Quantity Surveyors in the preparation of Bills of Quantities, Cost and Construction Management for multiple clients covering construction of building projects across England and Wales.
A Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Registered Expert Witness, with more than 30 years of experience and specialism in quantification, measurement, and valuation of construction work.
Alan has a proven history in the field of Dispute Avoidance, Variation and Final Accounting and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration (MCIArb). He also undertakes work as an independent expert working on site with contractors or clients to help find the right resolution.
Trevor Drury Barrister, FRICS, FCIOB, Quantum & Project Management Expert Witness and Adjudicator.
Trevor is a barrister, chartered construction manager, chartered quantity surveyor, accredited mediator, and panel adjudicator. He has been in the construction industry for 40 years, having worked for both contractors, consultancies, and barristers’ chambers.
Trevor specialises in construction law and practises from 12 Old Square Chambers in London’s Lincoln’s Inn.
He is also Managing Director of Bristol based Morecraft Drury, a consultancy which he established and has run for over 18 years providing procurement, commercial management, project management, expert witness, adjudication, and construction dispute resolution services. Trevor has also advised on collaborative working, supply chain management, partnering arrangements and has project managed or aided in the recovery of distressed projects.
Prior to establishing Morecraft Drury, Trevor was an Executive Director of an international construction consultancy and branch manager of its Cambridge and London offices.
Project experience is wide and varied both in the UK and internationally, covering residential, office, industrial, manufacturing, municipal, defence, leisure, retail, hotel, education, sports stadia, the London Olympics, road, rail and airport, chemical, power, and energy projects.
Trevor is Chairman of the UK’s Western Counties Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and CIOB Bristol Hub Chair and has previously been a member of many CIOB boards, panels, and committees over the years. He was also for 5 years Chairman of the Consultant Quantity Surveyors Association and now its secretary.
Trevor has been involved in a number of CIOB working groups and contributor to publications including the CIOB Guide to Good Practice in the Management of Time in Major Projects 1st and 2nd editions.
A third speaker will join Alan and Trevor TBC, with other speakers for the Q&A panel.
